Laundry room re-do

This is pathetic, but the below pic is the before of our laundry room.  Honey oak trim and cabinets, beat-up cream paint, a fluorescent light, and linoleum.  It extends right from our kitchen so that you can always see it.  We did very simple things that made a huge difference!

I wanted the laundry room to be an extension of the kitchen so I used the space as a pantry as well.  Putting all my pretty things up on these open shelves which freed up kitchen space.  I bought a 10 foot long wide board from Home Depot, 4 large brackets, stained them and those became our new shelves.  I LOVE open shelving and would have it everywhere.  It's my go to organization trick.
Baskets and Glass container from Target.  Baskets hold socks and rags, and the glass jar holds detergent.

Spray painted another chandelier gray which matches all the trim now.  Painted the walls and ceiling white, nice and clean!

This was my favorite touch! I gave Andy this board and the knobs and said what I wanted.  He made it happen somehow so that this is the first thing you see when you come in. I took some leftover black paint and made it a bit more personal.  Our laundry room has inspired a big painting project to come and hard wood floors to come.  Love freshly painted walls and ceiling!

So I was sitting inside...

I was thinking about camping, and the ugliness that was the pop up.  All of a sudden I jumped up, headed downstairs and grabbed a paint brush and turquoise paint.  I couldn't stop myself.  The deed was started.  I had seen these pictures which was my 'face that launched a thousand ships,' so to speak.  Andy took care of the painting I did the sewing.   I started this project and never took before shots=(  Here is exactly what ours looked like before... yuck!  So here's the rundown of what I bought;
Chalkboard paint -$9.97for the tabletop, fridge and door.(  Thought that would be fun for tic-tac toe, hangman, etc...)
Material from Wal-mart a total of $20-ish.
The rest of the paint, material and pillows I just had around the house...
Clearly this is the girl's side  with the flowers.

The chevron were in a fat square bundle from Wal-mart!  Didn't have to cut which makes my day when sewing!

One side of the white curtain was an old shower curtain on it's way out, the other a sheet.  The couch I covered in a sheet as well.

I think I'll be adding white lights and more banners.  We are using it as a guest room/screened in porch.  2 nights ago my parents stayed in there and loved it.  Last night we played games with friends in it, and today the girls will take their spelling tests on the tabletop.  Love our new space!

Sneak Peek - Wood Floors

Remember we replaced the old nasty carpet a few weekends ago with hard wood? Well, they look awesome and my husband did a great job! They aren't quite finished. A few touches here and there plus sanding and putting a clear protective coat down. So I won't give you the full view until it is completely done and decorated!

Brass, I despise you!

Really, was this ever ok?!?

Before...It unfortunately has this amount of coats and shoes usually.
After...took the other light fixture out(let's be honest, Andy did).  Took the glass globes off and got a funky blue color of spray paint from Home Depot.  This took No time!!  10 minutes of sloppy spraying I can handle!(=  Love my entryway!

A little storage, a little flare!

Found this beauty at a local thrift store for $50.  That's pricey to me, but we had just gotten our tax return and I was feeling spendy(=.

I first roughed it up and then let the girls help me paint!  That lasted about 15 min until I took control back.

Many small toys are stashed in here, along with books.

It was the perfect touch to our living room space!

Dining Room Makeover

This is what the dining room looked like when we looked at the house...

What it looked like when we moved our stuff in...

Our dining room now...

I know the before pictures make the dining room look huge! It's really not that big. Pictures can be deceiving! I think whoever took those pictures had a wide angle lens. It's actually a pretty tight space especially with our big farm table which is what made us widen the opening into the family room by about an extra 12-15 inches and add the french doors. I'll give a shout out to my husband here. He did it all on his own in pretty much a weekend! Pretty proud! We LOVE the difference it has made. The dining room feels a lot bigger and gives a much more open feeling to the house.

Other things we did...
Paint the walls
Add wainscoting and painted it white
Changed the light fixture
Painted our dining room chairs

What house projects are you working on???
